LATEST FAMILY NEWS A few Mendozas visited yesterday, August 29th, 2009. They all gathered for a photo in our newly renovated kitchen, which is almost complete after 7 weeks of work - we still had to barbeque as the gas has not yet been hooked up to the new stove. Click here to see some addition pictures of the kitchen.  Left to right - Paul, Danielle, Samantha, Alma, Danny, Audrey and Carson in front. I twisted Audrey's arm and we recently got a new dog to replace our longtime pet Winter who we lost to bone cancer back in January. She's a cute but precocious Boxer and Daschund mix we've named Izzy.  Audrey, Caitlin and I got away for a long postponed vacation to New Smyrna Beach, Florida at the end of October. We were able to stay at a fantastic house right on the beach. It was so close we almost thought we were living on a house boat! One of activities was kind of unique; we took a tour of the town and the beach on Segways and it was a lot of fun.  It's been a long time since I've updated this site partly because Audrey and I have spent a lot of our time this past year helping to caring for her father Walter who was quite ill. Unfortunately, Walter Mendoza passed away on Sept. 10th, 2008 after a long battle with kidney disease at age 82. He died at home surrounded by his children. We had a lot of support from caring friends and family who we really thank for all their understanding and help.
